TERMINATION OF LESSONS
• If a student and/or parent should decide to terminate lessons at any given time during the year, the school requires a two-week written notice before each billing cycle (email is acceptable).
• Regardless of when appropriate notice is given, such student/parent shall be financially responsible for the following two weeks/lessons, whether the student/parent chooses to attend or be absent.
RECITALS
•Recitals are scheduled in a venue bi-annually. Locations are various depending on availability. Fees vary depending on venue location.
WORKSHOPS
•Theory Workshops are typically held once a month. Each month we cover a different topic. Students will do written theory worksheets, sight-reading/sight-singing and ear-training. Snacks and materials are included.
•Practicums (Studio Class) are held prior to recitals and at other various times throughout the year. Students perform for each other and give constructive criticism. This is for students only and there is no fee.
•Additional Performance Workshops are held for piano as well. Usually a guest artist will be invited to give a master class to students who is attending.
PRACTICE & LESSONS
•Students are expected to practice 5-7 days a week. Regular practice is necessary for muscle memory, and growth. It is best to try to find the same time every day to practice.
• Students are responsible for practicing their assignment, prepare them for next lesson, and also students must remember to bring all of the materials and scores which will be used in lesson time. Remember, talent alone is not enough for success. Disciplined, relentless work with your talent together will take you far.
• Keep fingernails short, as long nails impede good hand position. Keep hands clean.
• Be quite in studio, make sure will not disturb other student' lesson.
CERTIFICATE OF MERIT/ABRSM/RCM
•CM/ABRSM/RCM are evaluation programs that we highly encourage all students to participate in. Students not only learn music from different historical periods, but they also are tested on sight-reading/sight-singing, ear-training, and written theory skills. Evaluations are held in the Spring at California State University Fullerton or other Southern California locations. There is a registration fee involved.
COMPETITIONS
•There are several competitions that students can participate in. All of these are optional, but we will present them to students (and post them on website), when they occur.
